How do you select the right game mode for Minecraft
Survival - when randomly created in a new environment players are required to attempt to survive by collecting materials and shelter as well as gaining experience. They also have to spend time fighting against hostile mobs. Creative - a game mode that allows players immediate access to nearly all objects and blocks are invulnerable and immune to death, and possess the ability to fly. The purpose of this game mode is to create unique worlds. Adventure - Players interact with objects (levers and buttons) and mobs to complete their adventure. Spectator is invisible to everything and unable to interact with blocks, entities, or your inventory. This mode is usually used to watch the creations of other players. Hardcore Similar to survival mode, Hardcore is set to the "hard" difficulty level permanently and players cannot return to the game; after you die the map is erased (or you are permanently a spectator).
